The Stars will Fall from Heaven

Job 38:4-7 Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Stars represent the powerful occupants of the second heaven who dominate the world. Throughout the Old Testament, stars represent angels, for in the Old Testament angels occupy the thrones of the second heaven. Angels are also called the sons of God in the Old Testament. These angels sang when the earth was created. These stars not humans, for they were created before the earth was created, therefore humans could not sing as the earth was being formed. Many angels fell through rebellion against God and became the rebellious occupants of the thrones of the second heaven.

Deuteronomy 4:19 And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them.

The stars represent the host of heaven, which are the angels. They symbolize fallen angels like Chemosh, Ashtoreth, and Baal. Many people worship and serve these false gods.

Judges 5:20 They fought from the heavens; the stars from their courses fought against Sisera.

Stars represent angels that fought against the Caananite king Sisera when he oppressed God’s people.

Mark 13:25 the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

Stars represent fallen angels who are the powers in the heavens. They are called powers because they have power over the earth. These spiritual hosts of wickedness are the world-rulers of the darkness of this age (Eph. 6:12), and they sit on heavenly thrones in places of power over the earth (Col. 1:16). In the day of the Lord evil angels will be shaken and fall down from their spiritual places of authority.

Isaiah 34:4 All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll; all their host shall fall down as the leaf falls from the vine, and as fruit falling from a fig tree.

The host of heaven are the stars. They are the angels. At the end of the age, evil angels will fall down from their heavenly thrones. They will be like falling figs. Then the old heavens will pass away.

Revelation 6:12-14 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.

At the end of the age, the fallen angels that dominate the nations will be like falling figs and falling stars. They will be toppled from their heavenly thrones (Eph. 3:10) and fall into the earth, losing their authority over the world. When this happens, the political systems of the world which draw their strength from the principalities and powers will also fall. The saints of God will then dominate the world through the spiritual power of Christ. He will reign through them, and the kingdom of God will be all over the world.

Hebrews 1:10-12 the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain; and they will all grow old like a garment; like a cloak You will fold them up, and they will be changed.

At the end of the age the heavens will perish. The fallen angels who currently dominate the earth will be cast out of the heavens (Rev. 12:7-9). They will fall from their thrones in the second heaven and lose their power over the earth. The thrones in the second heaven will then be occupied by the saints of God. This change in the occupants of the heavenly thrones is represented as changing a garment. The thrones will remain, but their occupants will change. This is like a man taking off an old shirt and putting on a new shirt. The saints of God will become the new occupants of the heavenly thrones.

Isaiah 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke.

The heavens will vanish. This refers to the evil angels who currently occupy the heavenly thrones and rule the earth on behalf of Satan. They will be burned up by the power of God’s word.

2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements [orders] will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements [orders] will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

At the end of the age, the old heavens and the old earth will pass away. The elements/orders refers to the fallen angels who will be judged by the word of God at the end of the age. The evil angels will be destroyed, and everything in the earth that is not according to God will be removed. When this happens, the old heavens and the old earth will be gone. Then a new heavens and a new earth will be created, in which the kingdom of God dominates everything.
